As an accommodation provider in Brisbane, I always keep myself updated with the latest travel trends. Over the past few weeks, I have been scouting all over to determine what the travel trends of 2018 will be. Today, I will share my findings with you.

Travelling solo

Travelling solo is something that people have been doing over the past few years. This is also something that I’ve noticed here with our guests at Bridgewater Terraces. However, this trend has exploded recently. According to Google, the searches for ‘travel alone’ and ‘solo travel’ have are at their highest ever. This just goes to show that travelling solo is one of the hottest travel trends currently.

Moreover, travel companies all over the world are offering special product packages specifically to cater to solo travellers. Intrepid Travel recently released their first-ever solo the only tour after experiencing an increase of 40% in solo travellers over the last five years. Transat is another company which is looking to create special solo traveller offerings. With so many offerings coming up for solo travellers, it’s safe to say that this trend will be around for a while.

Multi-generation travel

While family trips and vacations are something that we all enjoy, this trend had been dying out slowly. However, many travel companies have stated that multi-generation family travel is making a comeback. We started to see in last years’ trends and continue to see this already with guests at our Brisbane holiday apartments.

Multi-generation travel allows a family to spend quality time with each other. It also allows family members to experience a unique and fulfilling holiday. We can probably expect to see more of this travel trend this year.

Business mixed with leisure

Many people travel to Brisbane on business. However, I have been noticing that more and more people are considering mixing their business travel with leisure. Brisbane is a highly accessible and well-developed cosmopolitan city. It also offers plenty to see and do to all types of travellers. As such, more and more business travellers are looking for extended holidays in Brisbane.

This trend holds true all over the world as well. The lines between business travel and leisure travel have merged, and this is something you should also look to do in 2018.

Wellness travel

I’m sure you’re well aware that people have shifted their thinking towards wellness and leading a healthy lifestyle. This is something that has intruded into travel as well. Today, more and more people are considering taking a wellness holiday where they can relax and rejuvenate their health.

Brisbane is one city that offers plenty of outdoor activities to tourists. This is probably why we’re seeing more of health enthusiasts at our holiday apartments. And this is one trend that I expect to continue beyond 2018.

Alternative accommodation

Earlier, people were limited when it came to choosing accommodation during travel. Most people would stick to hotels or motels. However, travellers are much savvier today, and a growing trend is choosing alternative accommodation options.

Stopped there for 3 weeks. Good location, nice internal facilities. Rooms were not cleaned well enough. Dust here and there, plus found an old razor in the bathroom. however I would put 3.5 stars for overall experience which wasn't bad. My major concern is safety and security of the apartments. My car was broken into at night on secure underground parking. Car's door was broken and my personal belongings were stolen. Management told me they are not responsible for the damage and loss because of the signs they put on parking walls. This accident put my rating down to 1 star.If you have a car I would recommend to park it underground despite the secure gates installed.

Bridgewater terraces is the perfect place to stay for business or leisure. It is conveniently located within reach of Southbank, the CBD, local hospitals and convention centres ect. I stayed at the apartment for over 2 months and thoroughly enjoyed my time. I found the complex to be perfectly manicured and maintained, quiet and loved the cafe next doors. The river view is also very relaxing. The location is perfect for children and my kids loved walking through the gardens, splashing in the pool and walking to the nearby park and playground. Ray and Dennis in management were very helpful, attentive, compassionate and a pleasure to deal with.

Booked to stay at Bridgewater Terraces and looked forward to our visit. The views of the river are magnificent and this was the main, and as it turned out, the ONLY attraction.Initially the room looked OK until we discovered that it appeared NOT to have been cleaned! The old cooker was filthy and had to be scrubbed before we could use it. None of the cutlery or dishes were from same sets. The windows may have been wiped, but with a greasy rag. Having completed our own clean we sat down on a badly worn, sagging sofa which had stains and grease marks all over it. If that wasn't bad enough, the shower screen came off its rusty rails and there were many loose surrounding tiles. When the tumbler drier gave up, so did we and we checked out!Such a pity, Well manicured gardens and a fantastic location but the apartment interior was old and tattered and from our experience, very little effective management. Just to put the boot in, wifi is NOT free and is horrendously expensive. Stay here at your peril!!

Stayed here with a few guests and booked 3 rooms during February. Reception were only too kind and gave us really good tips on the Brisbane area. Rooms were spacious and quite modern. Everyone in our party enjoyed the stay and would definitely come back.

Stars rounded up because management were friendly. We got a neat well furnished apartment looking over the river. Appliances are modern but the washer and dryer are cheap. The dryer is faulty but useable if you jury-rig it. The bathroom floor drain doesnt have a trap so youre best off covering it to prevent air from venting out. Everything else was nice, the pool is a plus and the location is good.
