- Head to Brisbane City Botanic Gardens to discover exotic Australian flora. Explore the gardens through its many trails or find a quite spot to relax or to even have a picnic. And, there are a few cafes nearby, so you can always take a break for some refreshments.
- Alternatively, drive to Mount Coot-Tha to pay a visit to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens. Apart from the natural gardens, you’ll also be treated to spectacular sights and sounds from the lookout point. And, the drive to Mount Coot-Tha along Sir Samuel Griffith Drive is packed with dense forests. Definitely worth a visit for all types of nature lovers on a Brisbane holiday!
- To enjoy some quality time by the coast, drop by Wellington Point. Located just 30 km south of the city, this destination is a peninsula which offers majestic sights and sounds. You can have picnics or BBQs here and also engage in a range of water-sports and other activities.
- For an escape to the mountains, take a 30 minute drive to Mount Nebo Road. Arguably the most scenic drive in our city, you’ll be treated to amazing views on the way to Mount Nebo. From eucalyptus forests to exotic plants, the drive offers so much that serious nature lovers are bound to make stops in between.
- Brisbane’s fantastic walkways and trails are an absolute treat for nature lovers. You can go walking, cycling or jogging along these trails, many of which are located in the heart of the city. You’ll find some of our city’s best walkways and trails near Kangaroo Point and South Bank. Boondall Wetlands is a favourite with local cyclists.
- You can also explore national parks on your Brisbane holiday. Our city has several national parks, including D’Aguilar National Park, Fort Lytton National Park and Moreton Island National Park to name a few. You’ll get to witness a variety of native flora and fauna at these national parks.
- If you’re fond of animals, head over to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. It is the largest koala sanctuary in the world and you’ll have a great time cuddling with the cute animals there. There are also many parks, bushwalks and picnic areas at Lone Pine for you to enjoy.
- To spend a full day amidst nature, pay a visit to North Stradbroke Island just outside Brisbane. From grand lookouts to tranquil walks, pristine sand beaches and the cool ocean, North Stradbroke Island offers it all. It’ll take you an entire day to explore the area, so make sure to save other activities for another day.
