Plan an outing to Brisbane’s Story Bridge

Story Bridge Adventure Climb

Story Bridge Adventure Climb, a popular Kangaroo Point Attraction

Brisbane’s Story Bridge is one attraction you should not miss. The climb is a two-hour journey, but you will be rewarded for your effort by the stunning view of the city from the top. You can get a bird’s eye view of Brisbane city, Brisbane river, the surrounding mountains and islands. It is truly spectacular. The sunsets too are remarkable. Give yourself something extra to remember by abseiling down the anchor pier.

The Story Bridge Adventure Climb is located just 200 metres from Bridgewater Terraces.

Go rock climbing at Kangaroo Point Cliffs

Not too far from Bridgewater Terraces is Kangaroo Point Cliffs where you can work up a sweat the fun way with a rock climbing expedition. You will be glad you did once you get to the top and see the spectacular view of the Brisbane river and surrounding vista. Haven’t abseiled yet, or want another shot at it? Kangaroo Point Cliffs is a great place to abseil.

Kangaroo Point Cliffs is located a short 1 kilometre walk from Bridgewater Terraces.

Go Kayaking or Stand-up paddle-boarding

Kayaking

Kayaking in the Brisbane River

The Brisbane River is a great place to go kayaking. Give yourself the gift of adventure by booking a kayaking or stand-up paddle-boarding tour. By the way, stand-up paddle-boarding is simply paddling while standing up. Yep, it does sound like crazy fun. You can either go day kayaking or night kayaking, whichever floats your boat.

Take in some culture at QAGOMA

QAGOMA stands for the Queensland Arts Gallery and Gallery of Modern Arts and it is home to a truly awe-inspiring collection of historical, contemporary and modern art works. It is also home to the largest Marvel exhibition, which is something you won’t want to miss, especially if you happen to be a fan of the Marvel comic characters.

The exhibition runs until September 3rd 2017 and QAGOMA is just a short 7 minute ferry ride away from Bridgewater Terraces.

Spend some time at the markets

Brisbane Markets

Visit Jan Powers Farmers Market for fresh produce and yummy goodies. This market holds on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at New Farm’s Powerhouse, which is also a great place to have a picnic. If you are a foodie, you are going to absolutely love the Eat Street markets at Hamilton. Every Friday and Saturday from 4pm, you will find different types of yummy cuisine that will have you sighing in delight.

Experience Suncorp Stadium

Don’t miss out on a Suncorp Stadium experience; it is one you won’t forget in a hurry. There are several games that hold there so you could catch a rugby game or a footsie. If you are not a huge fan of sports, you can still get the Suncorp Stadium experience by attending any of the concerts that are held there regularly.

Go island hopping

Moreton Bay & Islands

Take a day trip to Moreton Bay & Islands

Brisbane has some beautiful and idyllic islands such as Moreton Island, which is the third biggest island in the world. It is mostly a national park, which you can explore. You will also find the famous Tangalooma Wrecks on Moreton Island and you can strap on your snorkelling gear or go diving for treasure. Another island you might want to explore is North Stradbroke Island, which is home to three villages. If you are lucky, you might see some whales here.

Go shopping

Want to shop till you drop? Brisbane has exactly what you need to get your retail therapy on. Head on to Fortitude Valley to shop designer labels. Looking for really high-end shopping, James Street and the Emporium will fill your craving. Don’t forget to check Paddington for vintage stuff or Woolloongabba for antiques.
