Top 5 Brisbane Day Trips

I have, however, met guests who are not interested in the city, and prefer to see the sights beyond the CBD. If you’re one such person, maybe a day trip is in order. In light of the latest National Visitor Survey, which stated that Brisbane day trip visitors rose from 11 million to 13 million in 2015, I thought I’d compile my top 5 suggestions for a Brisbane Day Trip.

1. Mt. Tamborine

A day trip to Mt. Tamborine will be a spectacular adventure for art enthusiasts, nature lovers and outdoor adventurers alike. Don’t get fooled by the name – there’s plenty to be done at Mt. Tamborine, with rainforest walks, treetop jaunts, arts and crafts shopping and cosy cafes and restaurants offering great food. The Tamborine National Park is also home to exotic wildlife and birds. Another highlight of this destination is the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, which offers surreal views of the Pacific Ocean from high up in the trees. A top destination for both the young and the old, many of our have thoroughly enjoyed a day trip to Mt. Tamborine, which is just over an hour’s drive from our apartments. If you’re looking for things to do in Brisbane, you should definitely consider this Brisbane day trip destination.

2. Samford

Samford is less than a half hour drive from Bridgewater Terraces and it offers a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the best things to do in Brisbane, a visit to this green country-style town will definitely make your Australian holiday more authentic. While the town presents a number of cafes, pubs, bars, museums and craft shops, you can also take a walk along the Samford Valley Heritage Trail and other rail trails in the countryside.

3. Mt. Nebo

When you’re visiting Samford, you can also continue driving to the nearby Mt. Nebo which will be a great adventure. Mt. Nebo presents wonderful rainforests where you can enjoy a picnic with your family or trek around for joy. A large number of chalet-styled cafes in the region offer great refreshments as well. I’ve been to Mt. Nebo several times and I simply can’t get enough of the place! Make sure to add the Samford/Mt. Nebo day trip to your list of things to do in Brisbane.

4. Bribie Island

An excellent destination for some family fun, Bribie Island is also perfect for nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts. An hour’s drive away from Bridgewater Terraces, you can relax in the white sands, or you can have an adventure windsurfing, kite surfing or kayaking on this island. One of the most vibrant marine coastlines in Australia, you can also witness shorebirds, dugongs and other wildlife in the mangroves, seagrass beds and sandbanks. Visiting Bribie Island is often stated as one of the top things to do in Brisbane by our guests and tourists alike.

5. Dayboro-Mt. Mee

The country town of Dayboro and the nearby Mt. Mee presents jaw dropping sights. With cafes perched high up on the cliffs, you can enjoy an idyllic escape in the quaint countryside. There’s a lot to be explored in the area – winding driveways, rainforests and much more! Just over an hour’s drive from Bridgewater Terraces, a day trip to Dayboro and Mt. Stopped there for 3 weeks. Good location, nice internal facilities. Rooms were not cleaned well enough. Dust here and there, plus found an old razor in the bathroom. however I would put 3.5 stars for overall experience which wasn't bad. My major concern is safety and security of the apartments. My car was broken into at night on secure underground parking. Car's door was broken and my personal belongings were stolen. Management told me they are not responsible for the damage and loss because of the signs they put on parking walls. This accident put my rating down to 1 star.If you have a car I would recommend to park it underground despite the secure gates installed.

Bridgewater terraces is the perfect place to stay for business or leisure. It is conveniently located within reach of Southbank, the CBD, local hospitals and convention centres ect. I stayed at the apartment for over 2 months and thoroughly enjoyed my time. I found the complex to be perfectly manicured and maintained, quiet and loved the cafe next doors. The river view is also very relaxing. The location is perfect for children and my kids loved walking through the gardens, splashing in the pool and walking to the nearby park and playground. Ray and Dennis in management were very helpful, attentive, compassionate and a pleasure to deal with.

Booked to stay at Bridgewater Terraces and looked forward to our visit. The views of the river are magnificent and this was the main, and as it turned out, the ONLY attraction.Initially the room looked OK until we discovered that it appeared NOT to have been cleaned! The old cooker was filthy and had to be scrubbed before we could use it. None of the cutlery or dishes were from same sets. The windows may have been wiped, but with a greasy rag. Having completed our own clean we sat down on a badly worn, sagging sofa which had stains and grease marks all over it. If that wasn't bad enough, the shower screen came off its rusty rails and there were many loose surrounding tiles. When the tumbler drier gave up, so did we and we checked out!Such a pity, Well manicured gardens and a fantastic location but the apartment interior was old and tattered and from our experience, very little effective management. Just to put the boot in, wifi is NOT free and is horrendously expensive. Stay here at your peril!!

Stayed here with a few guests and booked 3 rooms during February. Reception were only too kind and gave us really good tips on the Brisbane area. Rooms were spacious and quite modern. Everyone in our party enjoyed the stay and would definitely come back.

Stars rounded up because management were friendly. We got a neat well furnished apartment looking over the river. Appliances are modern but the washer and dryer are cheap. The dryer is faulty but useable if you jury-rig it. The bathroom floor drain doesnt have a trap so youre best off covering it to prevent air from venting out. Everything else was nice, the pool is a plus and the location is good.
