Brisbane for the Stylish Travellers

Do you need a break from the stresses of a high pressure job? Looking for an opportunity for a little indulgence to recharge? Perhaps you want a couples’ getaway for that well deserved luxury weekend. Rather than going overseas have you considered the often overlooked attractions locally? More stylish travellers are discovering the hidden gems in their own backyards and Brisbane is a prime example of the best that is available. In this article, I am going to introduce you to some of these offerings.

On your arrival in Brisbane, you will need a central base for your travels and Kangaroo Point provides the prime location. One ff the many luxury accommodation options available in Kangaroo Point, is our very own Bridgewater Terraces. Our riverfront apartments have unparalleled views of the Brisbane River which can be viewed from your private patio or balcony. Coupled with the outstanding service, landscaped gardens and facilities of sauna, pool and hot tub, you could almost be forgiven for spending your entire break at the apartments. However, even more awaits you in Brisbane.

Getting to know Brisbane in style is best done via the beautiful Brisbane River. An evening cruise on the majestic paddle wheeler, the Kookaburra River Queen, lets you watch the Brisbane shoreline light up as you indulge in a fine dining experience and enjoy the on board entertainment. Back on land, a Cultural Walking Tour of Brisbane will give you an insider’s look at local fashion at some of the best designer studio stores. Along the way, you’ll savour food and drink samples at some culinary hot spots and finish the tour learning to mix cocktails with a mixology class. Alternatively, you could take one of the many, free Brisbane Greeter’s Tours and learn all there is to know about Brisbane’s CBD, parklands and riverside.

If you have the use of a rental car, Brisbane boasts many renowned galleries including the Queensland Art Gallery, Modern Art Gallery, Red Hill Gallery and Heiser Gallery, all within an easy driving distance from Kangaroo Point. With an eclectic range of displays there is something for every taste. The Brisbane Powerhouse also is a must visit. Quoted as being “the hub for everything creative” it offers an array of performing arts, visual arts, festivals, and free community events.

A short 15 minute drive from Brisbane is Archerfield airport, Brisbane’s secondary airport, where you will have the opportunity to take a Scenic Helicopter Flight to Sirromet Winery (and who doesn’t love the extravagance of a wine tasting!). After enjoying the aerial views of Brisbane and surrounds, you can indulge in the fine wines available and enjoy a meal in the first class restaurant or sample some of the local produce while relaxing in the grounds of the winery – a truly luxurious day out to pair with your luxurious accommodation! There’s also the opportunity to purchase the wine to take back to enjoy while sitting on your balcony at Bridgewater Terraces, taking in the majestic river views.

Brisbane Racing Behind the Scenes TourNothing beats a day at the races and Brisbane’s Doomben Raceway is where the action is happening. To take the day to the next level then a Brisbane Racing Behind the Scenes Tour will give you that special and exclusive insider experience. Talk to a trainer, a jockey and stand with the race caller as the excitement mounts. Hopefully, you’ll be lucky with a little wager on the day.

After the races, you may like to call in to Eagle St Pier for a celebratory night out. For a luxurious fine dining experience, I highly recommend Aria restaurant which features a seasonal award winning menu, showcasing local and Australian produce by the celebrity chef, Matt Moran. I’ve personally dined here, and at Matt’s Sydney Aria restaurant and highly recommend both, but a heads up, main meals are around $45-$50.

If, instead, you would like to try your hand at creating your own fabulous culinary dish, then consider taking one of the many cooking classes available in Brisbane. Imagine whipping up fragrant lamb fillet wrapped in prosciutto in a Gourmet Master Class or BBQ stuffed squid with Chorizo in the BBQ Tapas Class. Not only are the classes fun and interactive, ideal for couples, but you also get to eat everything that you prepare!

To cap off your incredible holiday with the ultimate pampering, book in to Stephanie’s Spa Retreat. Massages, treatments and even special romantic packages for two will have you floating out the door.

I’m sure you can’t wait to experience all of the luxury activities available in Brisbane and Bridgewater Terraces is here to welcome you and make it all possible. Your first visit definitely won’t be your last. Secure you’re stylish Brisbane holiday by booking luxury accommodation in Kangaroo Point with us right here at Bridgewater Terraces. We welcome your stay.
