Today, I will list 5 Brisbane walking tracks which showcase the best of our inner city. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, these walking tracks offer a lot to explore. So, make sure to visit one or all of them!
1. Holman Street to Kangaroo Point Cliffs
Nobody can claim to have witnessed the best of Brisbane, unless they have visited the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs. Kangaroo Point lies right next to the Brisbane River and the cliffs offer majestic views of Brisbane CBD.
You can take the walking track from Holman Street Ferry and walk your way up to the cliffs. This walking track includes 1.6km of flat walking along the riverside before you hit the Kangaroo Point Stairs. After that, you’ll need to climb up some stairs to reach the top of the cliffs. Don’t worry – it’s an easy climb and the glorious views from atop the cliffs makes it well worth it!
This walking track is a must-visit for any of our guests staying at Bridgewater Terraces. Holman Street is located just 400m away from our holiday apartments. So, if you’re in the mood for a short walk, you don’t need to go far at all.
2. Kangaroo Point City Walk
Riverside at Kangaroo Point
The Kangaroo Point City Walk is a highly varied walking track in Brisbane. This 5km long walking track offers picturesque views of river parks, old quarries, botanic gardens, mangrove boardwalks and bridges. There’s also a strip of eateries and bars along the way, so you can always choose to stop for some refreshments.
This walking track is also largely flat, except for a few stairs leading up and down from the Story Bridge. It is a fairly easy walking track and is suitable for people of all ages.
The Kangaroo Point City Walk walking track is located right next to our holiday apartments. So, if you’re staying with us and you’d like to go on a long walk, choose this walking circuit over other Brisbane walking tracks.
3. Art and the River Public Art Trail
Brisbane’s Art and the River Public Art Trail meanders along Brisbane River and Kangaroo Point boardwalk. It is a gorgeous 2.4km long trail which is fairly flat (except for a short section) and is suitable for everyone.
This walking track consists of 3 sections. The first section starts at Maritime Museum at Kangaroo Point Boardwalk and ends at the Riverlife Adventure Centre. The second section starts at the Riverlife Adventure Centre and extends to Thornton Street ferry terminal. The third section includes a climb to the top of the cliffs at Kangaroo Point Park.
4. Brisbane River Run
The Brisbane River Run is a fun filled walking track which is suitable for jogging or walking on. It links inner parts of South Bank Parklands, Botanic Gardens and Roma Street and consists of three different running or walking courses – designed for casual walkers and marathon runners both. The courses are colour coded, so you can simply choose which course to take and walk/run through.
You’ll witness the beauty of the Brisbane River, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Story Bridge and Goodwill Bridge on this walking track.
5. New Farm to Tenerife
The New Farm to Tenerife track is a leafy riverside trail which spans almost 6km. It meanders along New Farm Park, the Powerhouse and Cutters Landing before making way to Tenerife.
There are plenty of amazing sights along this walkway. With parklands, exotic fig trees, gardens and markets, this walking trail certainly offers a lot. And, this walking trail is completely flat – making it ideal for children and even for pets!
