tumn is one of the best times to visit Brisbane. With absolutely sublime weather averaging temperatures from 14°C-29°C, autumn makes for the perfect time to explore the natural beauty of the region. It’s no wonder we receive so many guests at Bridgewater Terraces between March and May, during the autumn months.
However, it’s not just the weather that makes Brisbane so attractive during autumn. In fact, Brisbane hosts some seriously good events every autumn and this year promises to be no different.
As a local, I will take this opportunity to list 9 things you can do in Brisbane this autumn. Hopefully, after you read through this post, you’ll consider planning your Brisbane holiday between March and May.
1. Brisbane Comedy Festival 2017
Brisbane Comedy Festival 2017 will feature 66 of Australia’s best comedians performing over a span of 4 weeks. This festival will to lighten you up and leave you in good cheer on your Brisbane holiday. I have added this event to my list of things to do in Brisbane this autumn and you should too.
The Brisbane Comedy Festival is currently underway and runs till Tuesday, March 28. It is held at the Brisbane Powerhouse in Lamington Street, New Farm.
2. Don Henley – A Day on The Green
World famous musician Don Henley (vocalist, drummer and co-founder of the Eagles) will perform in Brisbane this autumn. Don will perform on stage with his 15-piece band, making for a great live concert. As a music lover, I have added this event to my list of things to do in Brisbane this autumn.
A Day on The Green is on Sunday, March 12 from 2:30pm onwards at Sirromet Winery in Mount Cotton.
3. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in Concert
If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter series, don’t miss out on this great live musical performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. It promises to be a spectacular visual and musical experience.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in Concert is on Saturday, April 1 at 1:30pm and 7:30pm at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
4. Grease – The Arena Experience
Grease – The Arena Experience is yet another concert that you should add to your list of things to do in Brisbane this autumn. This concert will feature a live performance by Dami Im, who will be supported by few of Australia’s best entertainers.
This concert starts on Friday, April 7 and ends on Sunday, April 9 and will take place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
5. Puppetry of the Penis
This hilarious theatrical is hitting Brisbane this autumn, after having been hosted in 35 other countries. Make sure to add this show to your itinerary of things to do in Brisbane this autumn. Warning – adults only!
Puppetry of the Penis is on Friday, April 21 from 8pm onwards at Eatons Hill Hotel.
6. Bonus – Discover the best vegan eats in Brisbane
Even if you’re not a vegan, you should definitely try out some of the vegan restaurants in our city this autumn. Many new bars and restaurants are opening up vegan menus and having tried them, I must say they’re absolutely fabulous!
