When’s the Best Time to Book Brisbane Apartments?

As an accommodation manager offering Brisbane apartments to tourists, the past year has been pretty exciting for the entire city. Last year, we welcomed over a million visitors both from our own shores and from overseas. For us in the hospitality industry, that translates to a massive increase in hotel and apartment bookings. But based on my personal experience here at Bridgewater Terraces, the growth is hardly steady. After all, the rise and fall of accommodation bookings is part of our business.

Thanks to my keen familiarity with the different seasons of Brisbane, I can give you some insights on what is the best time to book Brisbane apartments.

What to Consider When Scheduling Your Brisbane Holiday

There are two main factors to take into consideration when choosing the best time to book apartment accommodation in Brisbane, and these are:

Weather

One of my favorite things about Brisbane – and based on my conversations with tourists, theirs as well – is how nicely balanced it is. It has just the right population for its size, and offers equal amounts of rural and urban areas as well as of land and water activities. But best of all, our weather here is first-rate for tourists and is comfortable practically the whole year. Thanks to our location, Brisbane has one of the highest numbers of sunny days in Queensland.

We all want plenty of sun when traveling, as rain definitely puts a damper on most travel activities, but we don’t want it to be too hot either. That’s exactly what Brisbane offers, especially if you go during the right time of the year.

Let’s break this down into seasons for a closer look at the weather and what each season brings in terms of festivals and events.

  1. Summer (December to February) – summer is quite the popular season for traveling. Unfortunately, in Brisbane, this is the hottest time of the year, with temperatures rising up to 40°C, but it is also wet and humid, with sudden downpours and thunderstorms contributing to the city’s highest rainfall level. Regardless of the weather-wise, this is still one of the most popular months to visit Brisbane.
However, Brisbane apartments and hotel are at their highest over Christmas so keep this in mind.
  2. Autumn (March to May) – autumn is particularly pleasant in Brisbane. With temperatures ranging between 14°C (57°F) and 24°C (75°F), this season offers pleasant sunny days and cool, balmy nights. This makes it a great season for visiting the Moreton Bay Island, kayaking or paddle-boarding along the Brisbane River and climbing the Story Bridge. Additionally, with an average of only 6 rainy days per month this season, the exceptionally low chance of rain means you can freely enjoy all of Brisbane’s outdoor attractions. And since the city’s all abuzz this season with plenty of events scheduled, such as the Brisbane Racing Carnival, the Festival of Sails and the Greek Paniyiri Festival, there’s plenty of that to go around.
But despite all these great offerings during the fall season, crowds are relatively thin which means it’s also a good time to book Brisbane apartments at a great price, but keep in mind school holidays between 5th and 20th of April.
  3. Winter (June to August) – winter in Brisbane is not like any other winter. Temperatures during these months are fairly comfortable, between 11°C (52°F) to 23°C (73°F), with nice sunny days that are simply ideal for sightseeing and walking tours. They also pave the way for several outdoor events such as the Brisbane Marathon Festival, which attracts a lot of marathon runners from all over the world. The July school holidays makes this one of the peak travel season for domestic visitors. This means one thing: you can expect higher hotel rates, heavier crowds, and longer queues. But, although that’s good news for us accommodation providers, I personally wouldn’t recommend visiting us in winter, since the weather may keep you from enjoying the city to the full.
  4. Spring (September to November) – September is a particularly popular tourist season in Brisbane, the weather is near perfect 14°C (57°F) to 28°C (82°F) and there is plenty on offer making it also an very attractive time to book Brisbane apartments. Festivals and events includes the month-long Brisbane Festival, an arts and culture celebration that has all the city buzzing, and the Brisbane Writers Festival, the KiteFest and the Brisbane International Film Festival, all of which attract hordes of visitors from all over the world.

Holiday Seasons

A lot of people like to travel during the season holidays and school holidays. Unfortunately, this means everyone’s free to go out and about with their entire families in tow, causing a surge in tourists practically all over the world. Due to the high tourist attendance, it’s no coincidence that many events are also scheduled during the same seasons. So if crowds are not your thing, then you may want to avoid booking your Brisbane apartment during the holiday seasons.

Although some may find it less celebratory, there are a lot of perks in traveling off-season. First off, the lines will definitely be shorter at the tourist attractions you’re planning to visit. Airfare and tour packages are also less expensive due to the lower demand and best of all, Brisbane apartments and hotels are cheapest these times of the year.

So I can say from firsthand knowledge that this is not the best time to book Brisbane apartments and hotels as rooms are booked solid this season.

Conclusion

Considering all this, it’s safe to say that the best time for a Brisbane holiday is between April and May, when you can enjoy nice, sunny weather, a lot of free space and short queues in the famous attractions, plenty of rare, seasonal events happening all over the city and lower rates on Brisbane apartments.

If you’ve made up your mind, then you can start planning your Brisbane holiday by booking with us here at Bridgewater Terraces, where our apartments are comfortable and budget-friendly all year round.
