Explore Brisbane’s Nature and Wildlife

Brisbane – a bustling city with very tall skyscrapers and huge shopping malls. However, there’s a lot more to Brisbane than this. In fact, this Brisbane is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the country, thanks to its excellent preservation of natural resources. Eco-tourists, adventurers, and simply nature lovers will find a great wealth of parks, forests, mountains, bodies of water, and interesting plants and creatures.

There are quite a couple of zoos in Brisbane, but one of the most visited and something you should not miss is the Alma Park Zoo. It’s around 30 minutes away from Brisbane’s CBD. The zoo offers plenty of activities for the kids, which include a chance to cuddle a koala or hold a baby crocodile. You can also ask for professional photographers to take pictures with your favorite animals. Should you get tired hopping from one exhibit to another, you can rest in the shed or perhaps have a mini party in the picnic area.

You may also want to go to Lamington National Park, which is one of the biggest in the country. The Albert River Circuit is a famous trail taken especially by those who are not accustomed to hiking. The circuit itself is a good stopover before you proceed to other paths and trails. There, you can take a dip in the rushing waterfalls or admire the growing beech trees. It’s also the sight of the Gondwana Rainforest, which belongs to World Heritage List. It’s also a camping ground with barbecue facilities, picnic area, and toilet.

Moreover, within the park is Araucaria Lookout Track, which tends to go up to the Beechmont Range. It provides a sweeping view of Mount Warning and has more Antarctic Beech trees.

Right in the heart of the city is the oldest park in Brisbane. It’s established in 1825 and interestingly worked on by the convicts at the time. The plants and crops were then used to provide food for the inmates. Today it’s a magnificent garden with hundreds of various species both local and international. It’s a welcome respite for tourists who spend hours walking in the metropolis.

The garden has its own bicycle track and guided tours, as well as a picnic area. Everything in the garden is free.

You can also start nature tripping right at your own Brisbane accommodation. Bridgewater Terraces have one and two bedroom apartments that give guests a great view of the hotel garden or Brisbane river.
