The city of Brisbane is a fine holiday destination which draws in millions of domestic and international tourists every year. Brisbane has vast natural beauty, great cosmopolitan culture, plenty of outdoor activities and the marvellous Brisbane River. With so much on offer, it isn’t difficult to see why so many tourists head to the Brisbane CBD for a holiday.
The results of the latest International Visitor Survey confirm this fact. Brisbane performed incredibly well in 2016 – it was the 3rd most visited city in Australia behind Sydney and Melbourne. Along with other accommodation providers in the CBD, no doubt we’re all over the moon!
I’d still love to see Brisbane climb up and become the #1 destination in Australia. Nevertheless, third place is still great and there is certainly enough accommodation in Brisbane CBD to cater to more visitors.
Continue reading this article as I highlight some statistics of the International Visitor Survey. I’ll also outline the accommodation options you have on hand. After going through this article, hopefully you’ll plan an upcoming Brisbane holiday and choose to stay with us at Bridgewater Terraces.
Brisbane is the 3rd most visited destination in Australia
I’m pretty sure you’re aware that Brisbane is one of the best holiday destinations in Australia. However, you may not know that Brisbane is in fact the 3rd most visited destination in the country. This was revealed in the latest results from the International Visitor Survey.
For the quarter ending March 2016, Brisbane received 313,000 visitors. This was up from the previous year’s figure of 289,000. Moreover, visitor nights in Brisbane for the same period in 2016 were 6,766,000 as compared to 7,691,000 the previous year. This reveals that even though more tourists visited Brisbane, they stay for a shorter period of time.
This statistic on visitor nights is what is of most interest to myself, given I provide accommodation in Brisbane CBD. From what I gather, Brisbane is seeing more of weekend getaways and business trips as compared to earlier.
If you’re one such traveller who is planning a short trip, you should definitely consider booking accommodation in Brisbane CBD. The CBD lies in the heart of Brisbane and it presents the best that the city has to offer. Whether you’re looking for some fun or you want to get work done, staying in or close to the CBD is ideal.
